Charlescraft Antler Handle Knife

Wife's step granddad passed away a few years back, I had met him and hunted with him a few times.
He left me a Charlescraft Antler handled hunting knife in a deerskin (home made) sheath.
The knife is labeled 13 on one side and Charlescraft solingen Germany on the other.
It is pitted and I would like to attempt to restore it a bit.....or should I?
The worth of the knife is family value.... I am just interested about the company, since I can not seem to find out anything about it.
He told me he bought it in a store in Germany before he came back home from WWII, I just want to see if the old boy was pullin' my leg, he was a joker sometimes.
Thanks for any assistance.... i'll be around...I've got a few pocket knives I have had since I was young and a few after...most I mistreated... threw in various toolboxes, drawers...cut live electric wires with (yeah...my old favorite one, a sears craftsman white 3 blade I got when I was 11 years old).

Pictures....

I'm seeing that I cannot attach yet...does this include photo's from offsite storage?

Will my post be deleted if I attach photo's?

Was asking about a knife given to me...
