Wax/oil finish

You've all seen work shoes with a 'wax' waterproof type finish. How do I accomplish this, and without staining the leather really dark like neatsfoot oil does.?

You're gonna get some darkening doesn't matter what you use, even the sun will darken the leather.but nothing beats Montana pitch blend. Look them up.
