Dean Wins at SECKS in Winston-Salem

John & I have just returned from the SouthEastern Custom Knife Show that was held in Winston-Salem this past weekend. We had a really good time. One of the things that was so cool was how well the Georgia Custom Knifemakers' Guild was represented at this show.

Those with tables at the show are: Charlie and Harry Mathews (back row), Nelson Simmons, Lori & Dean Gates, John Poythress, Ken Simmons, and myself behind the camera. The only other member I remember seeing was Pop and he just was not available for this snapshot of attenders.

This will be a show Dean will remember--not only was it his first custom knife show, but he also won the "Best Scrimshaw" award for a piece he did. Dean sold the knife before Terril Hoffman, show photographer, could get a picture, so I can't show you the knife, but...

Dean was tickled to win and we were all just as proud of him as we could be.

Congratulations Dean and keep up the good work!

Way to go, Dean! And that does look like a great turnout for the Georgia Guild. Wish I could have made it, but I'm in "one-armed wallpaper-hanger" mode right now!

We had a great turnout from our Guild for this show. Harry and Charlie Matthews were there and we got to spend a good amount of time with them. They, along wit the rest of us had a great show. They were telling John that they had sent you up some pics and stuff for our web site. Can't wait to see it up on our website. They are as excited about our Guild as anyone I have seen.

Congrats Dean! Looks like you guys had a great time. I'm pulling parallel duty like Jamey, and can't find the time to slow down. I hope you guys behaved.
