I wish we could find SOMETHING to draw Jack and Ron out of their cocoons!
Maybe I need to contradict one of their posts to do it! lol

I have seen the early knife up close and personal already.

I guess it's just you, me and Da Moose for now.........

Hi Bill, Sam Sligo and those 500 lurkers!

It's just the strange world of Randall knife collectors.

Cheers!

David

That's what Jacknola called collecting collecting Randalls if I remember correctly "the crazy upside down world of collecting Randall knives". 🤓

This is a Delrin handled Randall Thorp Bowie knife that has not previously been shown here. It is currently on E-bay, but I thought I'd go ahead and add the photos of it now. I've added it to the cliff note file catalog referencing all 47 known Delrin-handled RMKs on page 13.

Interesting knife, thanks for posting it Jack. Was the lugged guard a standard option? I like the lined spacer behind the guard and pommel, they really set this knife off.

Hi Jim!

Yes, the lugged hilt was (and is) standard for the Raymond Thorpe model.

Thanks for posting this Jack!

Cheers!

David

When it rains Delrin...

This is currently listed on E-bay by Tom Clinton's son, Gary. It is a truly unique m13-12 from the amazing guard to the equally amazing pommel. The blade stamp makes it early-mid 1960s... the sheath however seems later and may not be proper for this guard. I was going to just add pictures of this knife to the previous post but the one-of-a-kind nature of this beast causes it to deserve its own post.

I have updated the catalogue on page 13 which now has all 47 known RMKs with Delrin handles.

It has become a chore to update the catalogue because I can only put 10 pictures in a single post. So, if you have new Delrin handled RMK, please just post pictures of the knife and add a note that it is not in the catalogue.

Hey Jack! I do not believe that I shared these pictures of my latest Delrin pair. If I have, please forgive me.

I don't think that there are many Brass Back Raymond Thorpe Bowies with Delrin!

Lots of discoloration on the 13-12" Arkansas Toothpick also!

This is the knife Bill referred to and it is indeed a beauty. Furthermore, the blade stamp indicates it was forged pre 1966. Unless it was forged and the handle added years later, it is another early example of Delrin being used by RMK long before the material was catalogued. More than just the blade stamp indicates it is a mid-'60s, probably 1965 blade.
