First knife for 2013 W's & Ironwood
I thought I would push myself a little harder this year. This is a w's pattern that I radial cut then stacked in a square. then of course accordian cut. overall length is 15", the blade length is 9". 1084 and 15n20 for the steels. The S guard was a couple of the accordian cuts welded together and flaten out. The spacer is from the next billet that will be a future knife in the making. The ironwood handle is of course some of my favorite. with a nice little 1/16" doomed pin.
Comments are always welcome. __________________ Bruce Bingenheimer MLazyB Custom Knives ABS Journeyman Smith |

Outstanding blade.
Not to highjack this tread, but I would be very interested how you made that Damascus pattern. Dennis |

Ecellent knife here Bing! You're really bringing it. Everything is very nice on this one and it's probably my favorite bowie you've made yet.

Awesome knife Pal! Seeing the pics, I now understand what we were talking about on the phone about the pattern. No matter what you call it, one way or the other..............it's an OUTSTANDING piece!

Dennis & Julie, I thought I would do this little sketch to explain my process. I would suggest if you don't already have Ed's Damascus video's. I think they were the best investment to my library. In the advanced video he explains how to do a radial pattern. He also shows you how to do the accordian cut and straighten out the accordian. That is the tricky part. Not tearing the inside of the accordian while opening it up. Let me know if this works out for you.
Thanks everyone again Bing __________________ Bruce Bingenheimer MLazyB Custom Knives ABS Journeyman Smith |
