cup burrs

they work just fine for doming pins.for soft pins like brass some folks make their own by drilling a shallow hole the right size in a piece of round stock steel and hardening if necessary.

thanx for your reply fitzo. Is it possible to spin a pin after a knife is assembled? For example, those italian & german made knives look like the pivot & back spring pins are spun after they are assembled, is this possible? JW

Anneal some drill rod and spin it in your drill press. I use a grinding stone mounted on my dremel spinning the opposite direction, and grind a small 1/2 round cup in the center. Then use a saw blade to make a thin slit accross the cutting edge and face of the cup.(thru the dome)
deburr and heat treat.
Polish after and spin at high RPM to put the dome on the pins.
I hope this helps.
