Giraffe bone for a handle

I just picked up some giraffe bone, at the Badger knife show. I?ve never work with this or stag before. I want to use it for a knife handle. I need some recommendation on how to work this stuff. Can it be drilled with regular drill bits? Do you have to use a high or low rpm?s? What about grinding, will it burn from the grinding belts like some of the hard woods?

Thanks
Bob

Bob , it will burn ! I use new drill bits @ low speed as well as new belts at slow speed. I work it like I would stag or ivory. Joe
