Ben, tastes vary, but I think most folks would see 1/4" stock as much too thick for a knife that is 9" overall. You might consider 1/8" or even 5/32" stock, but I think you'll find that with 1/4" you will have a whole lot of "stock removal" going on, and might still wind up with a blade that feels too heavy in the hand. Just an opinion, for what it's worth. |

Preciate it Don, I've heard that several times now, and I will probably look back later and say "Darn, i should have listened to those guys!" BUT, if everything goes according to my plans,(meaning that if the knife when finished, looks the way it does in my head right now) it should not feel too heavy, but more like a comfortable weight. The only down side I see currently is, as you said, it will be a lot of removal goin on, but, i'm not in a hurry the knife is for me, and i want a good heft to it.
