Mr. Steele: Here's "A" 'Chute, or three
Here is the Johnson Archer 'Chute, designed by Harry Archer back in the early 70's.
Look close and you'll see the hole in the bottom guard. You'll note that the angle of the top clip is more abrupt than the Loveless design and that there is more belly in the bottom cutting edge. Also, the thong tube is 3/8" with checkering on top and bottom tang, behind the guard. Will put up the Loveless design ASAP. Here's one, along the Loveless design, also inspired by harry Archer, from one of Jim Weyer's books, but with a 5" blade and Mammoth handles. Still looking for the one with stag. Never fear, Mr. Doggett is hot on it's trail! I knew if it could be found that Doggett could do it! Here's a 4 1/2" original size with stag and an engraved Long guard." Nice stag, huh? Thanks for waiting. __________________ http://www.srjknives.com NRA Endowment Member Knifemakers' Guild Member since 1971 "May you live all the days of your life." - Jonathan Swift Last edited by Steve; 01-25-2003 at 10:47 PM. |

Is that an "eek!" for, "How ugly!" or an "eek" for how "purty!" One never knows with Mr. Mayo.

Oh, when I see that I don't know whether to just pack it in or get back in the shop. I just don't know how to do work that fine, Steve, and I want to so much! I'm working on my 47th and 48th knives right now, and they're better - but they look like hamburger to me now. Cripes, I need to quit my job and get a divorce so I can just move into the shop and live with my grinder... Thanks for the inspiration!
