Overall, nice looking knife but that mosaic pin would look nicer centered in the knife (unless its the angle of the camera that makes it appear so.)
I've tried that wood before(though not as good looking as yours) and it was a pain in the ##s to work. How did you work your wood? Pat

Wink nice!

That is an exceptional piece of lignum vitae, most of that wood is very straight grained and really boring looking but you hit the jackpot with that one!! I also agree about the pin, it should be centered in the handle. Over all though, nice work.....Remember...Hit it while it's HOT!!!

It is a mix of heartwood and sapwood...picked up a big limb in Jamaica

C'mon Mitch..., you know that knifemakers can't afford to go to Jamaica!

That's a nice piece brother. Remind me again what a superglue finish is?

lignum vitae

Good looking wood. Is that piece a bit lighter than normal lignum vitae? I bet it was hard to work. Remeber, that in the age of wooden ships and iron men, they used to make ball bearings out of that stuff. We have a few stands of the stuff left in the Florida Keys, but it is pretty endangered in the US.

You take superglue...preferably from a knifemaker supply house....the thin stuff, put about 20-30 coats on...sand and buff.....protects and gives a super clearcoat shine.....

Like I said earlier...the light part is sapwood....most lignum knifemakers get I guess is probably all heartwood and cut up but I got a full branch in its natural state while in Jamaica and find the mix of heart and sapwood to be quite stunning....the sapwood is not as dense as the heartwood, but it is still heavy enough...
