Thanks John. I think i have a better idea now, after talking to you and Don, on what I need to do next to get better hamons. Yes, that handle material does look familiar ....... that was the bigger block you were so kind to let me buy .

Hi Anthony. That is some nice buckeye burl that John Doyle had. It worked out very nicely I think.

I've had a few too many projects other than knives to get done for the wife....

She now has two of these and I'm glad they're done. I have one more project for Christmas to get done on the lathe and then hopefully will be back to some forging fun .

Bing-what's that handle material on the last one, micarta? Really nice looking damascus, thanks for sharing.

Jeremy

I'm working on a caper blade I got off Ebay. No photos yet, but It's got Bird's eye maple grips, stainless pins, and a leather thong when complete. Debating on whether to stain the maple or leave it au natural and just seal it with tung oil. Love birds eye and curly burly anything in wood.

Pics to follow.

In addition, got my Zombie Chopper and my buffalo handle fighter up on consignement at my local Army/Navy store, and they seem very excited by them. They certainly weren't selling online, so maybe....

These are the 6 I have on the bench at the moment. The top 5 were all commissioned from guys on one of the projects i have been on all year, good thing about well paid union operators they all hunt and have thick wallets. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th from the top are going to have matching linen micarta handles. The bottom one was going to be for the last kith contest but i really missed the boat on that one.

This will be one of my next little side projects for when I am not in the "grinding zone"
I picked up a few of these sets after Halloween for $2.99. Its a really nice pumpkin carving set, thick stainless steel but with really crappy plastic handles. Next year ill stop over at the local cider mill/ pumpkin patch and see if they would like to purchase a few "upgraded" pumpkin carving kits.

I got the three blades in my original post all heat treated and ready to finish.

I got some good hamon action going on all three. Here's the big bowie. I think there is some really nice activity lurking in there. This is just a quick 120 grit belt finish and a light etch. Can't wait to see this one polished out.

I took the weekend to finish up a batch of Damascus Pens.....hoping that some folks might think they would make the "perfect" Christmas gift!

Ed, those pens look great. I like the hex ends with the round barrels.

Those last two twist pens are awesome.
