Re: a small problem
As a new maker, I've wrestled with the very same problem - in fact, I've seen it in a number of liner locks from other makers, and found a trick that works well for me... I measure the distance between the pivot pin and the ball detent, and make a special washer that is at least twice this dimension in diameter. This way, the washer supports the load against the blade from the detent ball instead of acting like a see-saw and allowing the blade to twist off center between the liners. If everything is square (and from what you describe, it is), you can actually assemble a knife with no pivot pin and still have the blade center when it's closed. I fixed this problem in several liner locks that have this same tendency by simply making a larger washer. Unfortunately, none of the commercial washers seem to be big enough so I've had to make my own |

Sorry - first time posting - I meant to replay instead of starting a new thread. I'll get the hang of this... |
