Anyone interested in posting their sketches. We did this in the last kith I did. It was interesting to see what the makers envisioned and what the finished product looked like

Cheers

Today was most productive. Have blade tempered and started hand sanding. This is my first San-mai blade. Its mild steel with a 1095 core and clay quinched. It will be my last san-mai until I get a press or a power hammer. Making the stuff with a 4lbs hammer sucks.
Going for a traditional japanese tanto. Please don't expect too much. Will try and post some pics tomorrow.

Dang Nate!

Almost 30 people signed up! This must be a record! If 2/3s actually stay in, it'll be legendary!

Way to inspire brother! Nicely done!

If I wasn't so dang unproductive lately...

I just had the electrician here this morning wiring the garage for the Paragon I bought in September! What a slump...

Andy,

You're not kidding! I think we brought some of the lurkers out for this one. Seriously, I think this is going to be a great KITH.

But. . .DANG! You guys are talking about having blades heat treated, hand sanding already, etc. I'm still trying to sketch out my knife! I don't have many blades under my belt, but I'm thinking about attempting my first mortised hidden-tang handle with this one.

Don't forget everyone--in progress pics are highly encouraged!!!!

Nathan

I'm not that fast just have 4 days off. The dealership I work just sold out and the new owners take over monday. I may be a full time maker on mon. So I'm trying to get going in that direction. Usually I goof off as much as I work. The last couple days I actually worked all day. Man you can make some progress if you go at it like a job.

Hey, no biggie. it took me 8 months to wired up my press and I am just now getting ready to have the 25 lb Little Giant that I bought 6 months ago sent to Sid at Little Giant for a tune up. don't even ask me about the Baldor buffer that I bought in '06

Hey Six,
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your 1084?
I can't seem to find it except in 1/4" thickness.
Thanks,
Iz

I got it from USA Knifemaker Supply, it seems like they had thinner stock but this morning I can not find it on their site. I did have to look for it before I found it anywhere.
Ellis does not have it listed either.
