I would like to put my name in, so long as I am sure no one will be offended if I drop out. I am working on building a house and we will be moving around that time. I have yet to finish a knife. I have done a few kits and have a few blades that I have made but are not yet heat treated. (well I heat treated 2 and ended up with 1 cracked and one that warped). My father is the one that would be making my sheath, but his hands are not in the best of shape so I will ask before I promise a sheath.(me and leather don't get along well getting no sheath would be better than getting one that I made lol)

Yes! Scary high. You could use some Ivory. I know you got some Probably just laying around.
A nice piece of Ebony or walnut would be cool.
If you do a Bowie, I'll do a traditional japanese Tanto. Dare-ya

Stag? Ivory?

You guys are starting to outclass my knife and I haven't even started!

Joe, good luck with you JS test this year!

I haven't been on the forum for a while, so I've just updated the list with the latest people expressing interest in participating in the KITH.

To answer some questions, no it is not too late to sign up. If you want to participate, please let me know by posting on this thread by the end of February. That will give you a month to finish your knife. I will draw names in mid-March, so if time gets moving on and you find you can't finish your knife in time, you'll have until then to drop out.

Alright, I have to get in on this! I'm still ashamed of my my first and only "Newbie KITH" (sorry Jim). My skills haven't improved much, but at least my equipment has and it's Knife Making Season in FL. For those of you wondering the only other season we have down here is Lawn Mowing Season!

Some of you know I have thing for Nessy's so I may go that route (I've admired hundreds, but only made 2). I'm also leaning towards some sort of kitchen knife - probably pairing or boning (not enough skill yet for a chef).

For you guys planning on this being your first sole author knife, might I make a suggestion? Make 2 at the same time. Trust me, as ugly as you might think your first knife is you won't want to put it in the mail. I think everyone should keep the first knife!

This is shaping up to be one of the biggest KITHs I've seen! I can't wait to get started! Let the games begin!

-Dave
