Ok Andy, I love it. BUT, I have a suggestion, and because we're buds and I know I can make such a suggestion without ruffling your feathers.

All the lines are about perfect except the stippling. Follow me here...

You hamon, grindline and the two lines that make either side of the guard, all look as if they originate from a common point about an inch and a half beneath the handle, where the middle finger would go.

Are you feeling me here? The stippling should fall right in line with the same pattern. That would be so awesome, and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of it!

A few adjustments to the stippling lines and maybe minor adjustments on the others and you have a smokingly sweet and artistically logical design!

Looks great as is, but I couldn't let this go unmentioned.

(Hell, I'm as excited about yours as I am my own!)

Andrew,I see what you mean.If I do an outline of the knife and put a center point below and behind the guard then draw all my arches from that point. It would improve the estetic (spelling?) balance. That art stuff does pay off doesn't it.I really liked the knife, but something just wasn't right like something was missing,I think you hit it.Thanks Bro.
Thanks for the input guys she's a go.

Andy - Love the design! It pains me to think how your going to achieve that grind line - I'm happy to just get a straight one on both sides. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Finally got a design down. I've been wanting to do a friction folder for a while and this seemed like a good opportunity. After wearing out my 7th grade geometry book I think I have a design that might work. No guarantees though - I still may end up doing a fixed blade. Anyway, I'm thinking brass liners and pins, ebony bolsters and maybe bocote scales - if it works I may even do a little filework on the blade & spacer. Let me know what you guys think.
-Dave

Hey Dave, that looks good. I've never done one of those and have been wanting to. I think you might have an easier time if your stop was part of your back spacer. I think a longer back spacer will add a bit of stability as well.
