Can you say snap?

Evidently my steel, a leaf spring from a 68 camaro, knew how to make that sound well! I was straightening a few of them in my new forge (man that thing has great swirling action) pulled them out and my cat was being a little too curious about the forge. So not thinking I slammed the orange hot spring into my dip bucket for knives so kitty wouldn't try to play with something hot............BIG MISTAKE! I dropped it on the concrete and it shattered! There goes a piece of a leaf spring that is almost impossible to find! Sorry... just had to rant!

A friend of mine was using an old igloo cooler for his water quench. He was describing the steps he was taking and just as he said, "...The main thing I want to be careful of is not to drop the blade...", he dropped it. The blade melted through the cooler in an amazingly short time.

As the previous poster said, "...won't be the last!"

Plastic has no place to hide around my forge. I try to keep glass as a distance as well.
Well somebody's got to say it ....... Tough break!

Oh and just a tip from multiple experiences (not all of them mine, mind you) never place your slack bucket directly under the front of your forge. Just don't!
