Looking for some info on AZ knife makers

I am not sure where to post this so I figured I would start here. I am looking for a knifemaker/blacksmith who is located in the Phoenix metro area. I am involved with a church youth group and the boys would like to take a tour of a forge and see some of the process involved in creating a knife. I would appreciate any help you could offer. Thx.

Tai Goo, an amazing smith down in Tucson, may know of someone in your area.

Otherwise, it would be well worth the trip to check him out. He uses the simplest of tools but makes some of the best blades around. He frequents the "Outpost" section of these boards.

There's an annual knife book that lists makers by city and state. The new one is Knives 2006, I counted 5 in Phoenix but a number of other cities are listed that may be close. If you can't find that book I'll be happy to email the names to you.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the info. I knew that Tai Goo was in Tucson (about 1.5 hours from here) but I never thought to ask him for info on makers here in the valley. Dave if you could e-mail me the info it would be greatly appreciated, just send it to john5cole@homtail.com. Thx again.

You can also check out Arizona Knife Collectors club page at http://www.akca.net/. Tim Hancock, ABS Master Smith, has been an active member for years.
