Found another anvil, couldnt pass it up...
Stumbled across an anvil yesterday while out about town with the wife. A guy had a 140 lb. Brooks anvil in nearly perfect shape, only way it could have been better is if it were brand new. The guy also had a couple Pexto stake anvils...a No. 901 and a No. 936. I really didnt need the stake anvils, but the guy wanted $250 for everything so I brought all three home.
I figure I can easily get my money back out of it if I want to, or who knows...might like the Brooks better than the JHM anvil once I get everything set up and playing with hot steel again. Also bought the black pipe I need to re-plumb my forge today, I plan on sticking with Bowie's simple single burner design I originally started out with. |

That was a good investment! Those items don't go bad on the shelf, and only increase in value! Nice haul!

Yeah I was tickled cause Im in an area where 'antique collectors' have driven the prices of anvils up to where any anvil in useable condition cant be touched for generally less than $500-600...even ones in the 100-150 lb. range. Heck I just seen an ad for a 150-160 lb. Peter Wright last night for $800...its getting ridiculous around here. And, you can forget about even finding tongs or hardy tools. The only reason you can find the occasional anvil is because the sellers want so much for them that people just arent willing to pay the ridiculous asking prices.
