Honduran Rosewood
I recently purchased some Honduran Rosewood. I have never worked with this wood. It is beautiful. My question is do I need to stabilize this wood. I have the equipment and do not mind but I want to make sure that this wood takes stabilization and needs it. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't stabilize any type of true rosewood.
It won't take it well. Rosewood is hard dense and oily enough on it's own. Very stable. __________________ John Doyle You have nothing to fear but fear itself...........and bears. Last edited by J. Doyle; 01-23-2015 at 12:51 PM. |

Ditto to what John said. Commercial stabilizing companies generally will not even attempt to stabilize any type of Rosewood. If you've not worked with it before be careful too.....many folks are allergic to the oils and dust in Rosewoods, and some have had severe reactions to it.

I have used quite a bit of Honduran Rosewood and really like it, but have found that a lot of customers have not really cared for it.
