'Fall'

I wanted to make a knife to take to Bowies hammerin next weekend..and this is what I came up with.

Forged from 1 1/2 inch diameter 52100 round stock....thankfuly, I have one of Ron Claibornes hydraulic presses to help me out!.

The press made easy work of helping to flatten the bar to something that I could then manage with a hand hammer..but it was still hard work!

8 1/4 inch blade with full distal taper. Tiger Maple and dyed black ash (stabilized), red/white spacers, nickel silver guard and pin.

Kevin, you called this one "Autumn" before

Great knife, you're going to have to bring a bag full over next time you cross the Pond. You'll be able to set up a table at the airport

Roger

When I first read the post I couldn't figure out why you needed one of Ron's presses to forge out 1/2" round but then I saw the 1 infront of it. Really do like this knife, everything goes well together. Whats the size of it?

Thanks Raymond...A inch and a half doesnt seem much, but its a lot to hammer flat by hand......though not impossible.

Its about 15 inches overall length, 8 1/4 inch blade.

Kevin, Think you may have misunderstood me. 1 1/2" round is way to large to forge by hand. I've got some 3/4" round that just about does me in anymore plus it being 52100 makes it that much tuffer. Keep up the good work, thats one fine looking knife!
