New to me anvil!!

I was talking with a patient the other day while treating, I am a Physical Therapist and the subject of knives etc. came up. I mentioned that I am going to try and use my RR track piece for an anvil. "Oh you need an anvil? I might be able to hook you up with one. I know someone who has one." Well today he brought in a Vulcan anvil. About 14"x10"at the base, 4" wide on the top, 21" overall. About 11" tall. Very heavy. Any ideas on the exact weight? There is a 15 stamped on the foot but other than that it is impossible to read the letters except for the Vulcan. Top is a little rough but I figure that sooner or later I can 'dress' that. Once I figure that out! Just when you think that things are going okay, someone does something very nice. Can't wait to hammer hard! Dan

I had to go through 4 months of PT. A couple times I might have given an anvil to make the pain stop as well!

Sounds like a pretty good sized anvil, nice score!

It ought to be 150 pounds. Vulcans are cast iron with a steel face laid in the mold, kinda like Fishers. Some folks consider 'em to be the poor stepchild of Fisher, but most folks who have them are happy with them. Good score! A real anvil of any make beats railroad track any day!

They don't ring, which may be considered a plus if you have close neighbors.
