Gents Locking Liner
Howdy Folks,
I just finished up this; EV4N1-Gents Locking Liner, from KnifeKits.com. It was a fun project and a quality kit. The handle scales are black walnut burl taken from the stump the knife is sitting on in the photo. This will be going to a friend, a wedding gift... Thanks for taking a look. Mike |

Looks like a very nice piece of work Mike! It is good to be one of your friends!!!
I like the nice clean bolster to handle material lines... looks tight. Your photography is really good too. Nicely done for sure. |

Looks nice, I've been thinking about doing a kit just to get some experience in folders. I've had one attempt at a folder and it wasn't pretty

Thanks for the comment littlefuzz.
I say give it another try. Knifekits.com has a lot of great kits, and they rate them based on difficulty of assembly. Put one together and post a photo... Mike |

Mike,
Very nice. I've always liked the looks of the EV4N1 and you've done an outstanding job with this one. The scales look great and are matched perfectly to those beautifully finished bolsters. Did you do anything to the blade or is that how it came? I just can't say enough on how nice this knife is. Well done. Eric,
Thank you for the comments. The blade and bolsters came bead blasted from Knifekits. I put a mirror finish on the bolsters and left the blade alone, except for putting a sharper edge on it. It may look a little odd with the two not matching, but I didn't want to take on removing the thumb stud and trying to polish the blade. Again, I appreciate the comments, Mike |

I've removed the thumb studs on EV4N1s several times to put a Scotchbrite finish on the blades. It isn't hard; you just have to take care not to damage the stud with whatever tool you grip it with. I have a pair of miniature slipjaw pliers that I modified for this purpose. I ground the teeth off of the jaws and glued in small pieces of Kydex.
Just apply a little heat with a torch to loosen the Locktite, and give them a twist. Rick DuBois |

Thanks for the tips Rick. This one has moved along, but maybe next time I'll take on removing the stud and polishing the blade.
