Hello all!
I'm delighted to see that there's so much interest in the World Cup! Yes that's right! THE WORLD CUP!!! Okay so it's the only sport on this planet that is played in every single corner of the globe. (I thought the Earth was round, but some still believe it's flat, but I digress...) Yes I know there are all sorts of valid criticisms that one can make about soccer, yet it is still a game that takes a tremendous amount of skill to play, and is passionately followed by billions of people. So Team U.S.A. lost out in the first round... Canada didn't even make it into the top 32. However, sports afficiandos should be able to appreciate the "Beautiful Game"... Or can they? End of rant... Cheerless! Moosehead P.S. DW, please address the question about leather finger grooves on the Randall forum. __________________ It takes less effort to smile than to frown ! |

Moosehead,
I am with DW, but then I would be there regardless of sport put forth (superbowl, world series, world cup, olympics, etc). I have never enjoyed sitting and watching others play, regardless of the sport. I was out at the forge this year while my wife watched the superbowl. I know it is wierd, but I would rather do something rather than spend time watching others do it. My wife enjoys some of the sports, so if I am doing something (hand sanding blades, for example) and my wife is watching, I don't mind them as background noise. But I just can't get into them. Must have been dropped on my head as a kid Actually, I think I did put my head through my grandmothers wall once as a kid --Carl __________________ --Carl N-T Porkin' Pig Price ?? David,
For the most part yes. I have a hard time sitting and watching anything without something else to do. I will sculpt, read newsgroups, work on knives, draw, etc when watching TV or a movie. They just don't hold my attention and my mind wanders. Always tweaks my wife when I can watch a tv show and read a book and tell her what is going on. Haven't been to a concert or play in decades. In meetings at work, I tend to doodle/sketch to keep my mind occupied enough to not have it work on some problem and miss the whole meeting entirely. Used to keep scuplting clay at my desk so during phone confrences I wouldn't drift into work and ignore the conference. I am glad they didn't have all this A.D.D. crap when I was young, they would have diagnosed me, drugged me to a stupor and left me. Never once realizing that boredom causes most of the problems. If you don't keep a mind active it will drift away, thus short attention span. --Carl __________________ --Carl N-T Porkin' Pig Price ?? Hi Carl!
You get a A+ for consistency, but you missed two very entertaining soccer matches today. You said: Quote:
However, how do you justify watching your computer?. (Now I'm being sarcastic.) Cheers! David __________________ It takes less effort to smile than to frown ! |

David,
Even there you could label me as a multi-tasker. If I am web browsing, I typically have anywhere from 10-70 windows/tabs open at once, and usually do it in conjunction with tv or something else. Just hop between windows/tabs as needed. Know what's really funny, I have sat in a field by a flower for 30-40 minutes waiting for a hummingbird to come back to a flower to get just the shot I wanted. I typically sit in the woods waiting for game, or patiently stalk to them. My job doesn't help either, I am a computer engineer, and if you can't multi-task you are usually left behind. Once read an article about engineers, and a study put the majority as slightly autistic. Might be true. Anyway, I had work today, and then took my boys out to pick raspberries. Think I am going to start on a holster this evening. --Carl __________________ --Carl N-T Porkin' Pig Price ?? KN Auctions to help a member in need and score a GREAT deal! ?? |
