grey oak whittler

just finished this one up for a co worker.

1080 blade, Grey oak burl handle, home made pins

Still working on getting the etch o matic to work properly, im rather nervous about using it and screwing up the blade.

Nice. The Etch-O-Matic is easy to use but definitely practice on some scrap until you feel confident. They key to getting a clean mark is to tape the stencil to the blade and then lift the pad every few seconds while etching. For carbon steel, I etch for 3 seconds and lift off for 2, repeat for a total of 20 seconds. Semi-Chrome polish will remove the brown haze that sometimes forms around the mark ...
