Smile My report from the Austin show

My Mom, Laverne, and I had a great time at the show. We were set up at the opening Friday and left to catch a plane home Sunday afternoon.

I love to meet and greet people like all of you who share a common interest in our craft.

I spent a little or a lot of time with all the makers at the show. Our table was between Gene's and Ken and Adrianne Linton's. Great people to be squeezed between.

Gene and I cussed and discussed ( no, Geno doesn't cuss) for hours. I enjoyed seeing Geno's cable damascus, his very reasonably priced DVD's on lots of knifemaking subjects, and his knives.

I met all the TKCA makers who had tables and some who were visiting. Bill Ruple, Harvey Dean, Richard Epting, Jim Crowell, Johnny Stout, Mike Lovett, Jason Howell, Sammy Fischer, Wally Pollock, Bill Ruple, Dwayne Puckett (Armoralleather), Robert Hensarling, and lots more. All great folks.

I was extremely pleased that lots and lots of people who came to the show recognized my name, if not me, and had the pleasure of meeting Bill Miller, Brian (Jaeger), Soke Miller, and several other new makers whom I know from the forums.

Jim Lemcke (Texas Knifemaker's Supply) came over Sunday afternoon and we had a long visit together.

Thanks a lot from Laverne and myself for all your friendship and hospitality. I learned something from each of you.
