I just thought yall might like to see what i have been working on lately. It is a Bowie made with 1080 steel, clay coated with a mixture of porcelin slip and powdered charcoal, quenched in veggie oil, tempered at 400 degrees twice for 2 hours each. The handle is curly maple coated in polyurethane, the guard is mild steel rusted with a hot mixture of salt, peroxide, and vinegar, brushed with a toothbrush, then boiled for about 15 minutes, then coated in mineral oil and dried. It is still a work in progress. I am going to make a blackened endcap for it also. I think the clay was a little thick as the hamon is pretty close to the edge.
