I make some damascus but I don't really do much blade forging. Despite that, I do have some sort of life long fascination with hammers. When I was 4 years old I used to sleep with my dad's claw hammer instead of a teddy bear. More than a half century later I still have that claw hammer but rarely sleep with it anymore.

Here's my little collection of Peddinghaus forging hammers ranging in weight from about a half pound to about 4 pounds:



This is my favorite forging hammer. It's a 2.25 pound cross pein made by Romey Bromwich:

I use a Hofi hammer for my main job, blacksmithing, and also use it for doing blades.
