knives numbers 4,5,6,7 and 8

So after getting the bug about 6months ago i decided to give up a summer job down the beach, invest in a cheap grinder and give makin knives a red hot go. After 1.5 months these are what i was able to pump out. They were all flatground right up to the spine b/c it's easier for now and also seems more practical for the function of the knife.

specs are:

Bosshog - 9.5"x7/32" RWL34, cryoed, black fibre liner, natural canvas micarta, brass and mosaic pins. This knife fits like the snuggest of gloves and is a real people pleaser - definately gonna make some more (i made a sheath for it but was unable to attach the file)

EDC01 - 6.5"x1/4" O1, cryoed, red and black fibre liners, ivory paper micarta, 416SS and mosaic pins. Sold this one very quickly.

Galaxy - 12"x7/32" RWL34, cryoed, G10 scales, n/s and mosaic pins. This knife is waiting on an n/s thonghole tube and 1/32"pin for the rear.(thought i'd post it any way)

Kestrel - 9"x1/8" RWL34, cryoed, black canvas micarta, n/s pins. A copy of Sean O'Hare's Kestrel. As far as simplicity/utility goes it's probably my favourite design- absolutely beautiful lines. (you know what they say about imitation and flattery...)

TacRecurve - 9"x1/8" RWL34, cryoed, black/turquoise canvas micarta, n/s pins. A bit of an expansion from O'Hare's Kestrel with a more aggressive blade shape

The photo quality isn't that great, but then, the knives aren't completely finished (they need edges and engravings) so i reckon i'll get some better photos taken in good time.

Any criticisms/comments extremely welcome.

Brenton Loh.

Wow! Awesome work!

I wonder if you would share your flat grinding technique and how you finish the steel? Scotchbrite? 320 grit...?

Andy

I'm grinding the blades edge up, on a horizontal platen with my multitool(kinda awkward but i'm gettin the hang of it- still no where near producing presentable grind lines which is why my grinds all go right to the spine). Y'know i didn't actually plan to recurve the 'Bosshog'. After grinding the inner edge way too thin i was able to rescue(and i think improve) the knife by simply grinding in the curve...not sure if that's the way it's regularly done but it looks good and worked on the 'TacRecurve'.

...sorry, almost forgot, the finish on all the knives is simply a 1200grit satin hand sand. Turned out pretty decent but on very close inspection you can tell that i was unable to get rid of ALL the fishhooks.

They look great! I'll try that flat grinding technique on my own Multitool.

Plus your recurve method is very timely. I just profiled a blade with a recurve and had not yet decided how to tackel it.

BTW, I come from a city called Melbourne as well. (Florida)

Keep it up!

Andy

Nice to see these, Brenton. They are all way better than would be expected for your level of experience. Most impressive. The Bosshog is my favourite, simply because it has some real design flare and it strikes me as being the most advanced of your designs so far. (Probably even more than the Galaxy.)

Make sure you turn up at the knife show in May and we can shoot the breeze some more !

Cheers. Jason.
