gold inlayed damascus bolster
Fresh off of the bench. this is a gold inlayed damacus bolster which i have cold blued. Jim you said that you cant get a hi gloss finish with cold bluing . I use it all the time on knives . and i get a mirror finish .. What i do is i first bring the metal up to a mirror finish , then i clean it real good with soap. dry it off and then place your work in a plastic tray and then pour the bluing over the metal . let it soak for a couple of min. then take it out and dry it off and then polish it with 4 ott steel wool .. i hope everybody likes it..

Hi Ron,
Great looking engraving on the bolster. I see what you have been telling me about the cross cuts. Like the cold blueing also. Thanks Joe Mason |

Van Gordens cold blue, is the only one that doesn't have that nasty cold blue smell. I did a complete .22 rifle with that stuff a few years ago, and it still looks fine.

That is really nice! I love blued engraving. The gold inlay really set off the design. Bob Sigmon |

Looks great Ron!
Like Darren said...post the finished knife when you can. Vans blue has been around for a long time. It works just as he claims. Tim |
