CRex&RLo Bowie

This one was done as a joint project by Carl and myself. The blade was forged from a blacksmith rasp, clay coated with a cloud like pattern and etched. Carl added the distinctive and unique file work on the spine. Wrought iron is the guard material with a handle of osage orange, red/white/blue spacers and leg bone. Vegtan is the sheath core and is wrapped in beaded elk with fringe, tin cones and hair roaches with extra beads. The frog has two antiqued buffalo head nickels. This is a pretty big package being 14" overall, 8 1/2" blade edge, almost 2" wide and 3/16" thick. Even with the size, it's super quick in the hand, blanced right at the guard and wicked sharp. The blade was forged in my shop, Carl did the file work and handle. Sheath bead work is mine and Carl assembled and added the decorative touches. Lots of fun doing this and sharing ideas with each other. Last stop for us will be to raffle off the knife at the March Track Rock event to purchase Track Rock shop equipment. Carl should have this with him at the winter Guild meeting with plenty of tickets available.

Rick and Carl: GREAT team effort! The entire knife and sheath are wonderfully crafted. I especially like the fine finishing touch of the arrow filework on the blade spine. I look forward to perlustrating it at the Guild meeting at the Twins' shop. Dave Roberts

Carl you need to bring that knife down to the "Boro" next week along with Rick. It's time about time he saw some flat lands and it is just not that far.

Rick and Carl that is a great looking knife. Y'all did good. I didn't expect anything less.

Lots of good words on this knife and we both appreciate them. Harry, I was born and raised in Oklahoma ( Carl says that explains a lot) and you're right, I need to see some flat land. Please count me in for Friday and Saturday.

Great Rick! Charlie and I are really looking forward to the meeting and I want to see "the knife" up close and personal. I also want to tell you and Carl what a great idea this is and I hope that it will be a success.
