Update on Winter meeting
The February 7th meeting is fast approaching. Charlie and I will be ready. We will have a social on Friday night at the Twin Blades Shop for those getting there the day before the meeting. The Saturday drill will be the same as usual with the Board meeting getting underway about 8:00 and the Guild meeting starting around 9:15 or so. The first demonstrations will follow. Lunch will be about noon, with the "iron in the hat" raffle immediately after to help pay for lunch. Don't for get to bring something from your shop to put on the table. The last demonstration will be after lunch. We should be through by 2:30 or 3:00.
The John Poythress Scholarship raffle will follow lunch too. We are looking for something to raffle, if anyone wants to donate a knife please let me know. We have had three requests for demonstrations. The first is going to be a quick and easy way to post pictures on the forums. I plan on doing this one. The next demonstration will be on working with stag scales. How to straighten them and grind them for use as knife handles when they look unusable to start with. Things to look out for and consider when buying stag. It will change the way you look for stag I promise. Charlie will be doing this one. The last demonstration will be fitting guards on stick tangs. I am looking for a volunteer on this one. Please contact me if you are willing to do this or you might have to listen to me or Charlie again and the shop won't be as clean as it should be. Hopefully there will be some forging going on Friday afternoon and during the day on Saturday. So if you want to give it a try bring some safety glasses and let us know. As usual with these things we are going to have a good time, talk about knives and everybody is welcome. Just let us know if you can that you are planning on attending so we can plan on lunch. Jamie should have directions posted on the Georgia Custom Knifemaker's Guild site. As well as some Hotel information. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. |

HI, Harry and Charlie:
The Valley Cut Throats over here on Georgia's fabled west coast are looking forward to the meeting. Go ahead and put my name in the pot. We had our monthly meeting at Don Tommey's shop in Columbus this past Thursday, and several folks indicated they were planning on the trip. You and Charlie and kin always do a FANTASTIC job hosting the Guild meeting. THANKS in advance! Since I'm still way new at knifemaking, the demos are a perfect fit for someone at my stage of the learning curve. Carl: Not sure about Friday and taking a whack at "hot steel on anvil", yet, but I am going to try. Dave Roberts Member - Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild Member - Valley Cut Throats |

Great Dave! Bring them all! I'm kind of jealous of the Valley Cut Throats and their monthly meetings.

Harry,
I am planning on getting a green card and do a border crossing. Hopefully I can talk my brother-in-outlaw, Scott, to join me in the trek. Hope to see you soon. Robert |

Just as long as you don't break down over here and keep moving, I think you will be alright with those Alabama plates. Charlie and I are really looking forward to this meeting. Looks like it might be a multi state event. I think Rick might be able to make it too.

I plan on putting lots of mud on my ####### plate so it will be hard to read. Lord knows, if I break down (shudder the thought), I may just have to live with you and Charlie.
I sure hope old "R-Lo" can make it. He is a pretty good old boy, even if he a border-line yank. C-Ya'll .............. R. D. |

Robert, mud ain't gonna fool anybody if you don't get rid of that duct tape holding your headlights on. You gotta use Bondo, everybody knows that!
Keep taking them cheap shots at RLo and he'll cut you out of his curs.....uh......will. See you there. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Robert this link has most of the ones you would want to stay in listed. You want to pass on numbers 4 & 5. Holiday Inn is the newest. There are a couple more along the bypass by 67 south that are new too.
Looks like we are going to have to get another case of beanie-weinies and some more RC colas. I think there is going to be a good crowd. http://local.yahoo.com/results?stx=h...atesboro%2C+GA |
