Wire Inlay (Help!!)

Does anyone know if there is a tutorial about doing wire inlay? I want to inlay a wire pattern in canvas or linen based Micarta but haven't a clue how to do it! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I was browsing Tracy Mickley's site this morning. He has some good pics and information there.

Also, take time to look around the entire site.......You won't be disappointed.

you would need to cut a channel for the silver with a router or other rotary device. the silver wire would then need to be glued into the groove. other possibility would be to heat the wire and melt into the micarta . the easiest thing would be to use maple , there are reasons you will not see wire inlay in synthetic or stabilized materials.

In wood the groove is cut with very thin chisels, the silver set in the cut, the handle wiped with a moist cloth and the wood swells to hold the silver. Synthetics will not work the same way so I guess you are on your own.
