Hunters ax
Lost interest for over a year with axes. Here's the first one with hopes of doing more. The head was forged from a piece of landing gear from a bush plane. There's a story that goes along with that but won't go into it now. The head is 5160, just over 5" with a 3" cutting edge. Handle is stab. curly hickory and its 14".

Everyone must be asleep at the wheel.... Let me be the first to say wow. Thats my kind of work Raymond. I know it my be asking alot , but could you show the "eye " of the axe , and explain briefly how you formed it ?

I will second that "wow!". I'm a big fan of Raymond's work, big fan of hawks, and a bigger fan of functional hawks. That hatchet/hawk is the nicest design I have seen in a while. Love the curly hickory, love the design, just outstanding!

John, Thanks for noticing this ax! I've got another small ax I will be finishing up today. I'll take a picture of the eye on the next one either late today or tomorrow and post it.
