bushing for pivot pin on slipjoint
Why use a bushing? The blade will ride on the same material with a pin or bushing. I don't get it.

Bushings are usually made of brass, softer than steel. Galling is caused by similar metals rubbing together. So the idea behind a bushing is to prevent galling.
That said, most slipjoints have never had a bushing and work just fine anyway. |

You can also make the bushing a thousands larger than tang flat so will not bind the blade in operation.
