Reusing your quenching oil

I am very very new to the world of knife making and still really in the learning stages so this may be a very easy answer for the rest of you but again I am still just learning.

Do you all reuse your quenching oil? And if so how long do you continue to use it, or do you need to change it frequently?

Depends on what quenching oil you're talking about. If it is industrial stuff like Parks 50, it will last for years. If you're using canola or similar, it depends on how much oil is in your quenching container, and then how often you do quench. It is really hard to say with food grade oils....but they can be re-used over and over to a point.

Real quenching oils are designed for that purpose and last a long time .One thing that will shorten the life is to edge quench where the oil will flame that cuts the life.
Motor oils and similar should never be used as they contain things that are bad for you !!
Better would be a veggie oil like canola if you can't get proper quenching oil.
Oil should be kept near the furnace but when not being used have a sug fitting cover to keep out the dirt and to be used if the oil might catch fire ! The quickest way to put it out.
