first 2 swords!

Here is a pic of my first 2 completed swords. First is a Katana and the second is a ninja.

Hahahahaha
I made these over 15 years ago. I think I was about 14 or 15 years old. I told my wife that this blade fettish was nothing new. Now she believes me. At least my work has improved .

The katana is about 4 feet long and is made of galvanized steel used in joining lengths of chainlink fence. Cold forged (beat into submission) and sharpened. The handle core is a pipe welded to the blade. The guard was welded on as well. The handle was wraped in black vinyl and coper wire along with a cotton string wrap on the end that was treated with boat resin to stiffin it up.

The second one is an alumnium blade and guard with a wood core handle wraped in leather string. It is about 3 feet long.

My dad had these in his garage so I brought them home to give you guys a laugh.

My first persian sword was made from a legth of copper tubing hammered cold into shape when I was 8 (33 years ago)
I don't laugh with such relics. Maybe a smile because it reminded me of my own stuff.

Mine disappeared at one time or another.

Here's an earlier sword of mine, done a few years ago.

Blade is 5160. Fittings are 303 stainless. I note that swords are even harder to photograph than knives.

Here's a closeup of the grip, which is herringbone pattern twisted stainless wire.
