2013 Sanpete knife auction.
I can't believe that the Sanpete knife auction will be here in a few short weeks. Last year was great. I'm sure this year will be even better. It's a great chance to bid on some knives from some hard to get makers, as well as some great new makers. I can't wait.

We have commitment from everyone that participated last year (I think!) and we even have the type of knife that will be offered from about half of us. There should be 11 knives available; from makers who either live here in Sanpete county, or still love it, even though they may moved away for a while. (He'll be back!)
3-4 nice Hunting Knives One cool Mini-Wilderness-type One Loveless-style Lamb Utility This year part of the proceeds will got o the Fair Budget and part will go to the 3 local VFW/Legion organizations in the county. __________________ http://www.srjknives.com NRA Endowment Member Knifemakers' Guild Member since 1971 "May you live all the days of your life." - Jonathan Swift Last edited by Steve; 06-20-2013 at 03:26 PM. |

Steve,
congratulations on another annual Sanpete auction! I don't know about the others, but I was thrilled at the quality of the knives and the bidding responce of the public. If I am correct, your knife sold fot the highest amount, with John Young right behind you. This is a wonderful boost to the Sanpete County Fair and the Veterans organizations. I want to personally thank you for inviting me and my son Hank to donate a knife. I hope we can do this again! I wish you well, Larry Peterson |

here is a better pic of the knife that I donated. textured sambar stag handle with bronze fittings and red and black spacers. The blade is some of brads damascus from alabama damascus.
This one went for $550.00 I was verry happy about that, and the buyer seemed to be happy to. A win, win I would say. Last edited by jes4e; 09-03-2013 at 02:38 AM. |

Some of these photos were taken even before the knife was fully completed, in order to get them into the Fair Book, so if you think you detect an "unfinished" appearance, that is what it is.

You made it a blast, John. It was great having your dad do some selling, also. Thanks, we know we're lucky to have you both as a knifemaker and a nationally respected and extraordinary auctioneer!

The 11 knifemakers were invited to the "Sanpete County Fair get-to-gether" where we enjoyed a mighty fine steak supper. The knife makers were honered with an ovation and some mighty fine praise.
Even Doc' Olsen, Family practice MD, talked about being a knife maker some years back with his friend Harvey Draper, another Sanpete knife maker. A nice time was had by all! Best wishes, Larry Peterson |
