Question drill bit stuck flush on both sides.....

Hey Gentlemen,
I hAD A 7/64 drill bit break off in small neck knife while drilling one side of the handle. A little was sticking out and i tried vice grips to un twist it out. Well as you probably figured out it snapped off flush. i tried a smaller bit (there's not to many smaller, lol) but it did not work. Please any suggestions would help. I'd like to save the scale, but if i can't oh well. I is a sweet green with swirls in it.
Oh and before i forget Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, CELEBRATING OUR SAVIORS BIRTH.
THANKS,
cLAY.

If it is stuck in the handle scale, use a small punch to drive it out. I would drive it out towards the scale side that butts up to the knife tang. that way if it chips out a piece of the scale it will be towards the tang side that will not show in the finished knife.

When I break a bit it is due to 1 or 2 'hurry up' shortcuts:
Did not lock the workpiece in the drill press vise
Did not use cutting fluid for the final break through

Once you get the bit punched out. You can use a brad point bit to enlarge the hole part way, use a shortened corbin bolt to secure the scales. If you are careful, you can fit the corbins so that they are countersunk into the handle and glue the right sized moasic pin "plugs" on top of them. Secured and blinged at the same time. Just measure carefully through all steps and as Dave said leave out the "hurry-up" steps.....take your time and be deliberate.
