Finished these up.....
The first one hasn't been in the works that long. Thuya Burl scales with stainless bolsters, pins and lanyard tube. The guy sent me a pic of a sheath and asked me to make something like it in black.
This next one has been hanging around the better part of a year. I always liked the old Marbles skinner blade profile but never the straight handle they have. I traced a blade and worked a more modern contoured handle into the profile. I picked up a vintage carving set with stag handles at a second hand store and later realized the shape of the "fork" handle almost matched the profile of this blade. I split the stag and flattened the halves then rough ground the full tang to match the stag. After heat treat I added the stainless bolsters and final fit the tang to the exact contour of the stag. I wanted the sheath to have an old west feel so I used some spots on it and applied an antique finish. Thanks for looking. Robb |

That "Nesmucky"lookin' skinner is cool.
I've attempted that style many times. It's hard to nail ! Keep up the good work! |

Thanks guys.
Eric, you are right. I hollow ground this one so rolling the belly was a challenge, at least for me. |
