Welcome Kent.
I'm located near halfway between Sandy and Jamey (Acworth), but know them both as friends. As said you are surely welcome to come to the next Guild meeting in Macon. You'll meet some really likable folks. What style of maker are you? Fire and hammer or belts and electricity? We are of all persuasions in the Guild so don't be shy come join us. You won't go home without having made many new friends and learning something. Hope to see you there. Wow!
What nice folks hang out here!
I reckon I need info on when and where the next guild meeting is in Macon, I should be able to make it as I live only about an hour away. As far as what style maker I am, I am really just piddling around right now. Busy with trying to find a job as I was laid off last year. I have been working most recently doing stock removal (with files and grinder, but working on getting everything together to build a flat grinder), but I also have most of the stuff I need to do forging. All I have to do is build a forge. I'm planning to make my own charcoal, as I'm very interested in doing some Japanese style blades. Most recent project is a Japanese style kitchen knife for my wife, in 440C. Kent |

Kent,
Several of the Guild members live south and east of Macon. You might be able to hook up with one of them here through this thread. Maybe one of them can help you get to the meeting without wandering all over town. Hope you can make it. You are also welcome to join some of us up at Trackrock the 1st of May. We'll even let you play with fire and pointy things (see Trackrock Hammer-in thread). __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H Last edited by Crex; 03-27-2004 at 09:03 PM. |

Hi Kent,
Welcome!!! We will be meeting May 15 in Macon. If you will send me your e-mail address I will include you in the Guild mailings so you will get the information on the meeting (time, demos, directions, etc....) as soon as John finishes nailing everything down. Hope to see you at Kathleen's. John & Joan Poythress |
