If you are using Netscape, spaces in the URL will give you trouble. Try it in Explorer and see if it works.

We all see the red X's from time to time.

In some cases the wrong URL has been entered by the person posting.

In other cases the URL is good but the server where the image resides is down or slow enough that it times out.

Another case is someone trying to display an image from a host like Geocities. They don't allow the image links.

Gib, locate one or two the ones that you can't see and give us the URL. I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.

I'm leaving town in little while, but I'll try to help out when I get back tonight. Or maybe one of the other guys can figure it out while I'm gone.

There are other known problems which are related to Netscape, but you said that you use IE, so I didn't even mention those.

them pictures

Just was over there, and it's not your computer. Mine does it too, and I tried more than one browser and the actual address. It seems to be something with photopoint, that's where those pictures are located.

Re: them pictures

Yep, Photopoint suffered from numerous problems. The company was insolvent -- more money going out than coming in.

Its parent company, Pantellic took over operations for a while. Now Pantellic is shutting down operations and selling off its assets.

Here are a couple of stories for those who may be interested:

Re: them pictures

Yeah, I do a little detective work when I see a red square, and right click on it anyway. That will give me the URL of the pic, and the origin of the server. PhotoPoint is history. I've been unimpressed with Boomspeed for another slow server, too.

Re: them pictures

In the very beginning BoomSpeed was pretty good. As time has passed they've lowered the amount space allocated to each account drastically, and for whatever reason, the speed seemed to drop as well.
