Thanks for your very nice remarks about my stingray knives, and my apologies if I may have inadvertently "hijacked" this thread.

Looking forward to seeing your first knife!
If you use stingray, stabilize and stiffen the material with super thin cyanocrylic, being careful to not let it pool on the surface when curing, as that will result in uneven filling of the pattern. |

An abbreviated summary of the process I use to attach the skin includes:
--- form a contoured carbon fiber underlay tapering to a knife edge at the frame edges. --- wet form the skin to the carbon fiber under pressure and dry --- bond the formed stingray to the underlay with cyanocrylic, also under pressure --- stabilize the skin as bonded to the underlay with very thin cyanocrylics --- drill mounting screw holes --- secure to the handle |

Please excuse the pics , I'm currently trying to tap the bolsters for a clip but here's the knife just before the stingray was stabilized (that was difficult)
I just have to keep reminding myself this knife is going to be used everyday But it was and is fun to mess around with, I'll post some more pics as soon as the clip thing is figured out. |
