Steel is awesome!
Two VEGAs: A CPM 154 '12' in mirror finish, and an etched 1095 Utilitac.
I just love the grain structure that the FC reveals in 1095. __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." |

great looking blades!
thanks for posting this.... ive been doing mostly stock removal with Damascus, but reently forged one from a file. after heat treating to produce a hamon, and a short bath in the FC it showed that same texture... nice to see that its suppose to look that way, and I didn't screw it up. |

For revealing grain structure with an etch, it's hard to beat 1095 and a 50/50 mix of FC and distilled water.
