Hodgson knives : infos ?
Regards friends,
that's my first entry in this forum and sorry for my english ... my mother language is italian !! I'm looking for infos about Dick Hodgson : I've just purchased a small, pretty Hodgson folder. Therefore I looked for informations about Dick , but after a half day through the web , I haven't found anythings !!! Not a only sentence ! In the last 7-8 years, I saw about 40 Hodgson's folder and 4 or 5 fixed blade pictured in some books or sold on the web but never a word more than : - ..late D.H. was a perfectionist in creating and crafting metal works....- , or - ..he made a couple of high precision guns.. -, or - ..extreme precise work, gunmaker and part-time knifemaker and super genius machinist...- , or - .. he and his sons ran a machine shop and he passed away around 2005... -, or - .. even the NASA got him, like to Tim Wright, to join many fine mechanical projects. - I heard that he did not make more than about 50 knives in total but ... i don't really know ... because what I wrote upstare !! ..........the mystery go on ... Perhaps in between the Forum's members there are collectors or people knowing more or that knew him personnally . Let me know and a greath weekend All the best Vecio |

Hi Vecio,
I don't know much about him, either. I have photographed half a dozen of his works, and there is no one better at finishing and fitment. Just incredible. He was a member of the AKI years ago, and THAT is a hallmark. Congratulations on your score. Coop |

Thank you Coop,
effectively the choice of the Mother of Pearl is amazing, all fitted and finished at best; perhaps just a little bit to strong, hard or not really smoth to close but I'm happy with it. Regards vecio |

Vecio,
Dick Hodgson was one of the old school. I believe a machinist by trade he owned an enginnering shop although from the few discussions that I had with him his main interest seemed to be building shotguns. He lived in Longmont Colorado and passed away about two years ago. Hope this is of interest. Owen Wood |

Vecio-
Check out this link: http://www.knifelegends.com/Hodgson-Lindsay.htm There is a little info on Hodgson and a great picture of one of his knives by Coop. Enjoy! -Dave __________________ www.ruhligknives.com "The choice isn't between success and failure; it's between choosing risk and striving for greatness, or risking nothing and being certain of mediocrity." - Keith Ferrazi |
