ACouple of Camp Knives

Here are a couple of similar but different camp knives. The large one is our version of an original we saw in a collection and liked. It has a 10.5 inch flat ground blade of CPM S30V with file work on the back and sambar stag handle. It is a custom order and will be headed out next week.

Charlie and I decided to take the last piece of BG-42 we had and each make our selves a knife out of it. We don't get to keep knives often and decided that since we both like BG-42 this would be a good reason to make our favorite knife. This is the one Charlie made for himself. It has a 6 inch flat ground blade and sambar stag handle with a tapered tang.

Both of those are beautifull looking. I love them both, but that bottom one of Charlies is probably the one I like best.

Thanks for the comments guys. That big one is amazingly light and fast in the hand. While it might be looked on as a little large for the Ritz-Carlton, it would surely do to take to the woods or anywhere else you might need a big 'un.

Yeah, gotta have a light n' fast camp knife at one of the Twins' eats. More for protection around the serving table than for those "quick" grilled tenderloins. Speed's not in the meat but in the predators! Flashing big sharp steel slows down the grabbing frenzy a bit.
