Latest Leather work..

Sandy and Chuck,

Did this one for a friend who happens to be an African PH in Tanzania.
Do to the Cite treaty laws I wasnt confident that the Zebra inlay sheath would be simple to fly in and out of the country so I made him a working sheath to go along with it.
I was going to an 1900`s safari look as his Double rifle is an English rifle from that time period which he still uses as a Professional Hunter.

Blade:Forged W2 high carbon steel
Handle: AAA Grade Ambonya Burl
Fittings:Stacked Nickle Silver
Sheaths: Hand sewn Inlayed Zebra Hide

Due to cites treaty I was afraid of flying in and out of country with the Zebra hide sheath so I made a Tiger striped working sheath I threw in. Both are High ride carry pouch style.

Lemmme know what you think.

Wild Rose Trading Co - Handcrafted Knife Sheaths

The beautiful sheaths created for storing the knife elevate the knife one step higher. It celebrates the knife it houses.

Romey, my friend, I think that you did a magnificent job on both sheaths. As you did ask for opinions, right? I shall offer one I think is to your advantage. I believe if you would use a #5 creaser on the welted edge of the sheaths, you would find it would give it a more finished, detailed edge. You have heard the old adage that it is the "little things that make the big difference"? This is one the the littler!!

The knife is as magnificent as the sheaths and the package is a combo that maintains that feature!

I, like Chuck, have been away for a while and I apologize for delay in any communication----Sandy

Thanks guys, the customer was pretty tickled. The fella wife actually did all the research and ordering herself as a Bday present for him. I beleive she thought I would just wrap the zebra and stitch it up and mentioned it was 100 times better then she had in mind. I been wanting an excuse to do a inlayed sheath and the zebra was pretty challenging to say the least BUT I proved it can be done.
Thanks to both Chuck and Sandy for the advice and Sandy sir, you know your critical eye will only help me to get better at this so I thank you and will take all the advice and criticism you care to share! I will pop onto a #5 ASAP, TY!

One thing I think I tend to do is that I try to be a stickler about well slicked edge, I like them glass hard and shiney but while doing so tend to push the edge up if that makes sense. I end up slicking it back down then smooch it back out maybe a #5 creaser will help alleviate this?
