Leather suppliers
Can anyone tell me some good places that I can buy leather to make sheaths? I have been purchasing generic blanks from local craft stores, but figured it would be better to get raw stock from someplace.
thank you |

You can always buy leather from Tandy. Good source especially if you have a Tandy store near you. good luck.

I was not at all happy with the prices, quality or service at my local Tandy. On the way down to the Arkansas Custom Knife Show this year I stopped at http://springfieldleather.com/ because a fellow ABS bladesmith kept recommending them. After one stop I haven't tried anybody else.
I bought a side of Hermann Oak 7-8oz veg tan leather, and some excellent stingray skins for less than I found anywhere else. And they honored my Tandy wholesale pricing and beat that price. The service and knowledge of everybody I talked with was amazing. And they do the majority of their sales are mail order and internet sales. Great find and stop every time I go through Springfield. Can't ask for a better experience in this day and age. Tony Z Kansas City, MO __________________ ABS Apprentice Bladesmith USMC Veteran VFW Life Member "Retreat? Hell, we just got here!" I second Tony's recommendation of Springfield Leather. I've had an account with them for about a year now.... their Herman Oaks leather is excellent and I doubt I'll be getting leather from anyone else in the near future. I don't know of any company that is more friendly or customer service oriented either. They're the real deal for sure.

I want that knife to look so good you just have to pick it up, feel so good in your hand you can't wait to try it, and once you use it, you never want to put it down ! If I capture those three factors in each knife I build, I am assured the knife will become a piece that is used and treasured by its owner! C Craft |
