how about 6"dia? also Plexiglass tubes i will not use, theses are thick glass chambers, due to issues with plexiglass hazzing when placing resin directly in to plexiglass chambers.

Hi Jon what would you use to pull the vaccum? And how do you tell the resin is fully penetrated in the wood? This whole process is fascinating to me.

Barry we use 2 stage vacuum pumps to pull vacuum on chambers with the see thru chambers you can see that when all the air stops coming out of wood under full vacuum you bleed off vacuum and then the resin gets forced in to wood, some say that you can remove wood in 15 min but I?m a guy that will let mine sit and soak 2 hrs up to 1 week if I don?t have time to cure them, I firmly believe that if it takes a vacuum pump 1 hour to get the air out of the wood I have a hard time believing that it will drive the resin in to the wood in 15 min, there are many chamber makers out there that wants you not to soak you re wood for a long time due to hazing of the materials that the chambers are made from, as far as penetration if you are pulling good vacuum and have removed all air from wood and are using the correct resin the penetration is very good with no issues, the way you can tell if you are getting full penetration is cut the blank open and you will be able to see the results.
