The Birth of a Knifemaker

Over the last several years John has been honored by having several folks stop by the house for help when stumped with an aspect of knifemaking. But never has he been more honored than having this young man stop by for help with his beginnings in knifemaking.

The student is our 4 year old grandson. He has overcome his fear of the sparks (well almost) and the noise of the grinder. It was so cool to watch him become his Pappy's shadow. Normally on his visits he thought playing with Mammy was the best thing to do. Now I have become a distant 2nd. Thank goodness grandchild #2 is due next month. Now John and I can both have one to "play" with.

Carpe Ferrum!
The little guys and gals are a second blessing we don't really deserve, and they are "grand"!
Get him some goggles that fit and he'll learn even faster. Actually my oldest GS likes to wear a pair of swimming goggles that fit him well.
