Does anybody know where to get nickle silver in 3/8 x 1 inch thick by 12 inch or 6 inches long. Have tryed a lot of suppliers with no luck.

Dan, I've got a bar of 3/8"x3/4"x12" if that will work for you.

Mike,

Thanks for the offer, but I need 1 inch wide for a ferrel that fits a great pc of elk horn. I dont know why but all the suppliers are stocking 3/4 inch wide material and no longer stock 1 inch. I also cant find any round nickle silver that is 1 inch.

Guess I will have to switch to stainless. My lathe has a rough time with it. It amazes me, the politeness of people on this forum and the help that people like you offer. If I would have said yes you would have taken the time out of you schedule to help a fellow knifemaker. This is a great place to be. Thanks.

You might try Sheffield, and if they don't have barstock, maybe they have a 6"x6"x3/8" sheet, or something similar.
If you go with stainless steel, get 416, it's not bad to work with. At least compared to the 300 series.

found it

Don,

Thanks for the offer but I found it in sheets at Sheffield. Again, it amazes me the help that you guys offer. Now if I can just get the knife together without any "murphy's".

You can make a knife without any "Murphys"????

I'm lucky if I can get away with only a half dozen.... I guess I better keep up with my practice.
